GRANDMASTER – ITS GRAND, INDEED

UTV’S FIRST MALAYALAM MOVIE WAS THE MAIN ATTRACTION WITH ‘GRANDMASTER WHEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED. Unnikrishnan’s last  releases, especially in the thriller category were disasters, so there was  a doubt regarding the movie till First Day First Show, now the show is over & its indeed Unnikrishnan’s career best work. He has made an engaging thriller and come out with flying colors, a .

UTV have done a very good job marketing the film and giving it one of the best releases possible ROI & Overseas. The have brought a professionalism in post-shooting & pre-release promotional activities. Hope they continue their good work even after the release. A Grand debut for UTV in molly wood

Story

IG Chandrashekhar [Mohanlal] is the head of a new police division called ‘Metro Crime Stopper Cell’ with Jagathy Sreekumar & Narein assisting him. After the divorce with Deepthi [Priyamani].  Chandra is leading a quiet  life, until he receives a letter from a serial killer . The Killer with each letter gives a hint about the murder about to take place.  The fact that killings has something  to do with his past life draws him into the case. And the rest of the story deals with how solves the puzzle & become the Grandmaster.
Unnikrishnan has hit Checkmate @ Kerala Box-office once again after Madambi

Positives

Unnikrishnan’s  Script, Interesting, twisted, thrilling
Dialogues – there are some cool dialogues in the movie, which fans will surely love
Mohanlal – The Grandmaster, A subtle yet excellent performance,   Fans will for sure love certain mannerisms of him & some quirky dialogues
Camera work, Editing, etc was very good, suiting the mood of the film
Good Songs & BG
Climax & Convincing performance of the villain

Negatives

Narein, Jagathy, Anoop Menon, Priyamani have nothing significant to do
‘Aaranu ne’ could have been picturised in a better way
Little bit slow here & there

Don’t waste your time just reading reviews, go and watch it – Book YOur game with the GRANDMASTER

Verdict: Very Good

Rating: 3.5/5

Box Office : Hit [it should be & deserves a HIT status]
