Ra.One - Exclusive First on Net Movie Reviews

Review 1 - A Never Seen Spectacle in Indian Cinema

Had Spielberg seen a country lacking far behind in technological usage in cinema produce a marvel like RA.One,he would have certainly been proud of this earnest effort by a certain Sinha who is relatively unknown in the chapters of Bollywood. What is not to be missed here is the simplicity with which the whole film has been presented and therein lies its beauty.

Beyond characters,it is about the scripting of the movie which shows that a deep thought has been exercised before executing it. Sinha seems to have given much thought to each scene before finalizing the last cut.The minute details have been taken care of and this does not come as a surprise considering its high budget. So the question is--Does it justify its budget? The answer is a resounding Yes! The most important part of the movie is the beautiful development of father-son relationship that leads to some good emotional moments. SRK as the geeky, simple scientist Shekhar does falter here and there but SRK as G.one-the superhero who throws electric balls with sheer grace is a treat to watch. It is the special effects wherein the strength of the movie lies. A particular sequence where SRk runs on an inclined board with electric sparks emerging behind him is a treat to behold. Another sequence is the emergence of Ra.One whose evolution through phases will be a treat to watch. There are a few shockers up the alley here but more than that the genesis of the villain is a marvelous sequence with the addition of chips and the whole scene has been treated with such perfection that one cannot differentiate whether one is watching Hollywood or is it the same old Bollywood. Another sequence that involves SRK riding the bike, very similar to the bike used in Tron Legacy,is a bit underwhelming considering one has seen it before in another movie but nonetheless it is an entertaining affair.A last mention of a sequence where G.One and Ra.One come together for an epic fight, here one just cannot miss the goosebumps as it has been shot at such a grandeur and the effect is palpable. Terrific special effects with a few underwhelming ones adorn the movie which shines like a jewel. The major drawback of the movie is its length. Some sequences are boring and extended irrationally.Another drawback is the little time given to sympathize with Shekhar. But if we talk about performances then the little child stands out.He is the pivotal character and he steers the movie with his sweet charm and innocence. Gaming freaks will love this movie.Kareena is in a role of a lifetime. The train sequence and her action part in it is a sheer treat to watch. G.One shines as he is the soul of the movie but Shekhar disappoints a little.Arjun as Ra.one is a big revelation.Sahana and Tahil are literally non-existent.The music is good and songs catchy. But you do not remember songs in a movie that boasts of such a great visual treat that it outshines every other thing.Emotional aspect of the movie is a major achievement.Considering Sinha had directed a emotional potboiler like Tum Bin,he holds the emotional chords pretty well. All in all a riveting experience.I am still reeling under the effect.Worth a Watch.

Review 2 -

Ra One is a sci-fi movie based on Gaming, Bad Guys and Super Heroes.

In the movie Shahrukh Khan plays the role of a father who is trying hard to 'fit-in' in his Son's bad-ass world- A son … trying hard to 'dude-up' his dad from 'aiiiyyyo' to 'yo!' And a mother lost in translation between her husband's 'ingeva' and her son's 'Inn'it!'

While Shekhar was trying every trick in the book to woo his son, get 'dude-ified' and 'up his coolness quotient' his son had given up on him..

Just when the father-son duo hit a deadlock- Shekhar strikes gold when he designs one hell of a game..

Finally it all starts falling in place...as the family comes together....only to find themselves in the middle of a crash, not just a hard drive crash but a crash that would drive them to a disaster and make their lives go – Kaboom!!!

All hell breaks loose when - the game that was meant to be played with… starts playing them… shah rukh khan in his G-ONE avatar doesn't looks like a HERO... shah rukh khan's SHEKHAR avatar is very unnatural...(i mean no one is so foolish as its shown in the movie) shah rukh khan disappoints. the main character of the movie RA-ONE is good but too Hindi movie type villain. The only one who stands out in this DUMB movie is Kareena Kapoor. she is beautiful n good. Overall the movie falls flat on its face. The climax of the movie is very irritating. The drawback of this movie is also its songs. There was no need of "Chammak Challo" song before the climax. the songs is put in the movie deliberately. The graphics of the movie are same as "Superman" which was released in 1980.

Final Verdict-

Don't waste your money on this without brain movie. Watch "Margin Call" instead of this bad one.

(3/10)just for the pretty Kareena Kapoor.

Review 3 - Kiran, Forumkeralam.com

Story:-

Not going much into the plot.As you may already know the entire movie dealt with the influence of Modern Technology in the society.Shekhar Subrahmanium(SRK) creates a game in-order to impress Prateek(Armaan) and due to unforeseen consequences the characters of the game comes out to the real world and starts playing itself.

Technical Department:-

Anubhav Sinha's Direction:I really did liked his previous flicks Dus & Tathastu. Both was stylish but lacked content. This time he hitted the jackpot to an extent

Script:Though the script wouldn't worth 2 years effort,it is OK for a Super-Hero Entertainer Vishal-Shekhar's

Music:Vishal-Shekhar failed to create impact on music charts this year with their previous attempts like Rascals & Bhudhah Hoga Tera Baap. But they hit gold this time in the form of three chartbusters in the form of Dildaara,Criminal & Chammak Chalo.Raftaarein is also a passable track.Even the background score was inspiring

Perfomances:-

Rajnikanth:An inspiring cameo from Talivar

Shahrukh Khan: As G.One:During his starting scenes he resembled Chitti from the 2010 Superhero movie Robot. But was mindblowing towards the climax portons As Shekhar Subrahmanium:Just Ok

Arjun Rampal:One of the most terrifying villain Bollywood has ever seen.Another brilliant perfoamce from Rampal after Rock On & Raajneeti

Kareena Kapoor:Though there is not much scope for acting, she was looking drop-dread georgeous especially in Criminal and Chammak Chalo

Armaan:Good, considering he is a newcomer Shahana Goswami:SRK should have casted someone else for this role

Tom Wu,Satish Shah & Dalip Tahil:

My Favourites Scenes:-

1.Intervel scene

2.Climax Fight scene

3.The intro of Ra.One & G.One

4.All the scenes between Shekhar & Armaan

Positives:-

1.Technical Effects

2.Last 20 minutes(Out of the world fight scene)

3.Arjun Rampal as Ra.One

4.Shahrukh Khan as G.One & Shekhar Subrahmaniam:

5.Vishal Shekhar's Soundtrack

6.Anubhav Sinha's racy direction

7.Interesting cameoes from Rajnikanth,Priyanka Chopra & Sanjay Dutt

8.SRK-Kareena-Armaan Chemistry

Negatives:-

1.Script could have been a little more tighter

2.Few of the Sonia-G.One portions were unwanted

3.Miscasting of Shahana Goswami

My verdict:4/5-Excellent
BO Verdict:The film has already recovered 132 crores before the release. So sure ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER

SRK & Anubhav Sinha's 5 years hard effort didn't go in vain
