Ek Tha Tiger - My Exclusive Music Review

Ek Tha Tiger Music Review

Expectations

Just Like any Salman Khan Project the music of ETT was also eagerly awaited & anticipated mainly because all his films have chartbuster songs catering to the masses. The expectations regarding ETT music even higher [apart from being a Salman Khan project]because
It’s a Yashraj Film

1.Salman for the 1st time as a hero in a YRF film !!
2.Sohail Sen who gave superb music in ‘MBKD’ last year
3.Katrina Kaif who also has a track record of chartbuster songs

Review

Mashallah - Wajid, Shreya Ghosal [Music by Sajid-Wajid]

This was the first official song/video to be released by YRF & it proved to be instant chartbuster. A Song which looks like set in Egypt has a strong flavor of Egyptian/Arabian music which has been perfectly blended to suit Bollywood style. The Video has already crossed 20 lakh views in YouTube & the song is topping the charts in TV, FM, iTunes etc. , so don’t think there is any need to tell more.

Banjaara - Sukhwinder Singh

This was the most awaited track of the album, thanks to the small leaked clip on YouTube & looks like its going to be the song of the year. An absolutely infectious track sang superbly by Sukhwinder Singh. Groovy music, superb singing – One Word – SONG OF THE YEAR!! Can’t Wait for the Video !!!

Saiyaara - Mohit Chauhan & Taraannum Malik

Just like Banjaara colud the all class song of the year, Saiyaara could very well be the Romantic song of the year. Mohith chauhan is back in business after ‘Rockstar’ to bowl over masses & classes. Superb singing,  nice orchestration great feel & lyrics – Another chartbuster

 Laapata - K.K., Shreya Ghosal

This song could take some time to top the charts. It need multiple listening to get into the groove of the song, once video is out it will be there in top as well. A feel good song shot in Cuba. KK & Shreya has done a good job.

Overview

The music of all recent Salman Khan films has been chartbusters, but it took multiple listening or video to reach the heights it did, but in the case of ETT the songs are already a rage among everyone within hours after the audio released in stores & available digitally [iTunes, Ovi etc]. It’s the best album of the year easily along with Cocktail & the best album, among big mass highly anticipated films, to hit stalls since Ra.one.

Rating: 4/5

Verdict: Buy it !!!!

NB: I am just an ordinary Indian Music Lover with no Musical expertise, so all my rating are purely based on likeability after listening to the songs multiple times. Also not a fan of Remix songs, so not rating them.

Expectations

Don is one one mos the most loved gangster movies of all time [both the old version & new one]. The 2007 release Billa was the remake of Rajnikanth's Billa which itself was a remake of Don. Billa (2007) was a smash-hit, so the expectations regarding Billa 2 was sky high, plus the fact that its a PREQUEL made me all the more interested in the project. The much hyped Don 2 turned out to be a damn squib, so expecting a great movie from Chakri Toleti worthy enough of satisying my thirst for a Don sequel

Story

"Everybody has a past but a Don a History" - Billa 2 is the story of David Billa, before he becomes the dreaded ruthless underworld King. How he started from the bottom, and marched  to the top of the underworld with brawn & brain.

Billa 2 is not a worthy successor to Billa. The movie is not entertaining, it drags big time & tests your patience through out. But that doesn't mean its Class, its neither Class nor Mass. Chakri Toleti is the main culprit here [also the co-writers]. The Direction took the average script into deeper depths. Editing was bad, felt as if its 3hr long [actual lenght is 129 mins]. Yuvan Shankar Raja disappointed big time, his BG & Music were one of the big plus points of 'Mankatha', here he simply failed to deliver.

God only knows why the makers opted for Parvathy Omanakuttan [may be coz she is a Malayali, as Nayans was a Mallu too]. Brunah Abdulah looked Old & 'Cold' even in those bikinis. Both had short roles, shorter clother & even shorter expressions that u need a magnifying lens to read them from their face. All villains are wasted [Poor characterization is there throughout]. Billa character lacks consistency, it swings both ways.

The movie started positively, but failed to pick up, even in the second half. Action choreography was bad. The movie has some good one liners. The climax looked ridiculous [just like Sagar Alias Jacky].

Even die hard fans of Thala will be disappointed. Don 2 looks a classic compared to this, even though it was a sequel. A Colossal disappointment considering the excessive baggage & hype it carried.

Positives

Ajith
Actor who played Hotel Owner

Camera
'Sin-City' like video for 'Unakkulle Mirugam'
Some good One-Liners

Negatives

Chakri Toleti
Screenplay
Editing
Music & BG
Heroines
Villains gets no scope
Over Hype

Rating

2/5

Verdict

Die hard Thala fans, watch it for him, other don't even bother watching

Eecha – The Fly
Eecha is the Malayalam Dub of Telugu Tamil Bi-lingual Naan E/Eega. The Film has been dubbed from the Tamil version.
 Expectations
Expectations were high among those who watch Telugu movies & those who have heard about SS Rajamouli, the Maghadheera director.  Rajamouli is the Shankar of Tollywood with no flops so far & all his films turning out to be Blockbusters. With Magadheera he raised the bar to a next level. So much excitement was there to see what has he done this time. The title of the movie also gave rise to curiosity among people.

Story
Is a simple revenge story that we have seen many times before in Indian cinema. Hero in love with heroine, Villain also in love with the Heroine, Villain eliminate hero, hero is reborn as ‘Eecha’ (Fly), Tries to get his revenge. Will he succeed, what happens to the heroine forms the rest of the story.

It’s an out an out Rajamouli film. His dreams, his vision & passion is clearly visible in the film. Even though a simple story the narration makes the film worth every single penny of yours. It’s not a serious movie, it’s a fun movie suited more for the families and especially Kids.  The  animation is top notch, VFX works are very good matching Hollywood standards. Performances are also good. Sudeep did an excellent job as the villain; the scenes where the fly troubles him are outstandingly enacted by the Kannada Super star where he has to imagine the fly attacking him and act, it’s hard to believe that there was no fly there. Nani has a cameo length role, Samantha looked pretty and did a decent job, Music was good, so as the Background.
The Fly will be loved by kids for sure, the things that it do are sure to bring down the house. It’s a perfect treat for the entire family by Rajamouli – Its rip roaring fun

Positives

Rajamouli
VFX, Animation
Entertaining Script
Sudeep
Scenes between the fly & sudip
Music, Background
Camera & Editing
Eecha Item number @ the end
Santhanam Comedy track [even though unnecessary]

Negatives
Dubbing
Ages old story of Revenge

Verdict
Go with your Family & Have a blast- you will love this Fly & the next time you try to kill one Eecha you will definitely think twice

Thattathin Marayathu

Expectations

A Feel good Romantic film after a long time from Mollywood, directed by multi-talented Vineeth Sreenivasan with superb songs was bound to create expectations, especially among youngsters.

Story

It’s the Story of Vinod a Hindu, Nair who is in love with Aisha a Muslim Girl & how the society, religion etc. plays a big role in their destiny in the backdrop of Thalasseri [Kannur, Kerala]

The story of ‘Thattathin Marayathu may be simple & seen umpteen times before, but it’s the presentation that scores big time & makes this film a MUST WATCH. Full Credits to Vineeth Sreenivasan for Packaging this movie beautifully.  Very Good script, Excellent dialogues & Brilliant direction – it’s an out an out VS film.  Nivin Pauly did a terrific job as Vinod, Isha Talwar looked breath taking as Aisha. All the supporting cast also did a nice job. Songs, Camera, Background, Editing also deserves Special mention. Most of the dialogues got thunderous response from the viewers.
Youth is simply loving the movie, they will watch it at least 2 times for sure, The Word of Mouth is Excellent, could very well be the next ‘Classmates’

Positives

Vineeth Sreenivasan – The all-rounder [Direction, Script, Dialogues]
Nivin Pauly, Isha Talwar
Supporting cast

Camera & Editing
Thalasseri
Cameo by Sunny Wayn was a Scream
